Autumn realized the importance of getting an education to help further herself, and for her daughter, Emberlyn, too. It was then that she began taking classes with The Literacy Alliance in Decatur.
Autumn has gained the opportunity to help other women at The Hope Clinic through reading and revising articles for their newsletter. This task requires her to translate difficult material into a more accessible reading level for the clinic’s clients. She also plans to lead classes on learning various life skills. This opportunity is rewarding for Autumn as she has gained a better understanding of parenting and enjoys helping the clients. She also values her time and friendship with her mentor there, who has helped her reach her goals.
Autumn appreciates her time with The Literacy Alliance for boosting her self-confidence and improving her time management skills. She enjoys the one-on-one interaction she receives from her teacher, which helps further her success.
