How long have you been volunteering with TLA?
I have volunteered for TLA for the past two years.
Why did you decide to volunteer at TLA?
I decided to volunteer with TLA because a member of the organization came into my school and gave a speech about its mission. Hearing this mission made me realize I want to be a part of it.
What has been the best part of your experience so far?
So far, the best part of this is working with the kids and watching them achieve their goals.
Do you have a favorite volunteer role/task with our organization?
My favorite role as a volunteer is to work with the elementary kids!
What have you learned about yourself and others through volunteering at The Literacy Alliance?
I have learned that watching others succeed with your help is more rewarding than succeeding yourself.
What would you say if you were to encourage someone else to volunteer with our organization?
If someone were to ask why they should volunteer with TLA, I would tell them that you truly make a difference. Watching the process from the beginning to the end of the year and the difference it makes to the kids is worth all the hard work.
What is one of your favorite books you would suggest others to read?
My favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It is an interesting story about perseverance, which is the best skill.
Do you know if there is anything else you’d like to include?
TLA has been a great part of my volunteering journey, and I cannot wait to return next school year!
