Student Spotlight: Ángel

Student Spotlight

Angel

Ángel was born in the city of Pasaje de las Nieves, Ecuador. He comes from a humble and very hardworking family, who instilled good principles and values in him

Ángel graduated in Ecuador as a system analysis technologist (whose learning allowed him to work here in the United States doing electrical work).

About two years ago, due to a lack of employment and rising crime in his country, he decided to emigrate to the United States, like many others from Latin America. Carrying very little luggage, he set out in search of a better life, knowing the journey would be long and full of challenges as he crossed seven countries to reach his destination. Despite feeling sad to leave his country and family behind, he remained hopeful and determined to succeed.

In 2024 he decided to take English classes through Project Connect at The Literacy Alliance since in the time he has been in this country he had a little difficulty because of the language. After class one day, he learned about a theater workshop and play, which piqued his interest. He attended, enjoyed it, and decided to join the project.

You can see Ángel as Papa Grande in Tomás and The Library Lady, February 7-9!
