Rachel, a graduate of The Literacy Alliance program in Bluffton, seeing a need in her community and becoming passionate about The Literacy Alliance’s mission, came back as a volunteer to help students as a tutor. Tutoring has enhanced her confidence and increased her need to help others. One of the challenges she has faced is relating to people from different life situations, but she says, “giving it all of your heart and having an open mind to understand the students you are working with” makes all the difference.
“…giving it all of your heart and having an open mind to understand the students you are working with” makes all the difference. ”
With the help of volunteers like Rachel, students at The Literacy Alliance receive a personalized learning plan with tutors when needed. They often leave the program with a greater sense of confidence. Do you have time to make a difference in the life of an adult learner?
