I work 12-hour shifts and then come to class after work. If I can do this, all of you can do it too. Never give up on your dreams...

Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am 29 years old. I have three beautiful children, and I come from a slightly large family of six. I know what you are thinking. Wow, that is a lot of people, but you should see how many grandchildren there are. I am an independent contractor who came to The Literacy Alliance to get my high school equivalency (HSE) diploma.
I was familiar with The Literacy Alliance from a few short years ago when I first attempted to get my HSE diploma, but as you know, life happens, and things get jumbled up in the mix. More years flew by, and I realized that I had three children on assistance, and I was financially struggling to make ends meet. Then it dawned on me that to have a more successful life, I needed to further my education. So, at that moment, I decided to return to school and get my diploma.
“I realized that I had three children on assistance, and I was financially struggling to make ends meet. Then it dawned on me that to have a more successful life, I needed to further my education.”
Being in high school, there are so many distractions. I got pregnant in my senior year of high school, which was a different world I was not ready for. So, when push came to shove, I dropped out of high school, and my life as I knew it was changed forever. Fast forward to now, I am proud to say I am working hard, and I am on the right track to getting my diploma.
One of my goals, after I obtain my diploma, is to go to college and get my degree in human service. I love to help others and encourage them to be the very best that they can be.
My experience with The Literacy Alliance has been great. The teacher works with me at the level that I am at and helps me to hone my skills. Coming to The Literacy Alliance has totally been a game changer for me, and I feel like life is only looking up from where I am now. I am so humbly grateful to have this opportunity to have a teacher who is more than understanding and truly dedicated to seeing me graduate. And if you are anything like me, please don’t wait! Go for it now! Your future will thank you in the long run.
