Student Spotlight: Elizabeth (Belle)
Jan 02 2021
My name is Elizabeth. I am 21 years old, and I’m from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I came to The Literacy Alliance to better my future.
Every year we present the Gordon Cole Outstanding Volunteer Award to a deserving volunteer at The Literacy Alliance. This year it was presented to Drew Dunlavy, who has just finished serving nine years on the TLA board of directors. Drew learned of The Literacy Alliance through his mother, a long-time volunteer, and a previous board member. Over the years he has served as a board member, has chaired the board twice, has volunteered at orientation and has delivered a financial literacy module in the classroom.
“I value Drew’s commitment to The Literacy Alliance. Active in various committees throughout his tenure, Drew’s selfless giving of his time, talent and treasure, as well his generous leadership style, have helped improve and move the organization forward.” – Brian Schlichtenmyer, Chief Operating Officer
“Drew has been a strong encourager of students and staff alike, as well as a thoughtful and intentional board member. We are grateful for his service to the agency and are pleased that he will still be serving in a non-voting role as past chair of the board and as the chair of the resource development committee. “ – Melinda Haines, Chief Executive Officer
