Volunteer Spotlight: Chris
Jan 23 2021
A Language Arts volunteer for a little over a year, Chris came to TLA through the Volunteer Center in Fort Wayne.
In observance of Memorial Day, The Literacy Alliance offices will be closed and no classes will be held on Monday, May 25.
My name is Marvin, and I am 53 years old. I was born in Marion, Alabama. I have two children, ages sixteen and 13.
I came to The Literacy Alliance to acquire my HSE. I attended R Nelson Snider high school, but I did not graduate. I always wanted to get my high school diploma and go to college.
My experience at The Literacy Alliance has been wonderful. I have very caring, knowledgeable, and understanding instructors.
In the future, I would like to attend Ivy Tech Community College and pursue my Commercial Driver’s License. I currently hold a Class B Commercial Driver License and want to upgrade to Class A.
I want to obtain my HSE before January 1, 2020. I would highly recommend The Literacy Alliance to anyone trying to achieve their HSE. I have learned a lot of valuable information and learning techniques. I am truly thankful for this second opportunity to obtain my HSE. My instructors, Michael and Amy, are truly the best. After I graduate, I plan on keeping in touch.
Last but not least, thank you for everything. I could not have done any of this without the help of The Literacy Alliance.
Marvin reached his goal, successfully passing the HSE in December 2020.
