Student Spotlight: Alex

My name is Alex. I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I’ve moved around quite a bit over the last couple of years, but I now live in Fort Wayne. I have one brother, one sister, and a nephew. Currently, I work at a local fast-food restaurant, and I have worked there for about two months.

I am enrolled at The Literacy Alliance in the high school equivalency (HSE) program. I would love to get my HSE diploma to further my education, and after graduation, I would like to take some college classes. I want to sharpen and brighten my mind, grow, elevate, and evolve with more than just my HSE diploma. I’m unsure what career I want to pursue, but I have considered looking into the mechanic, welding, and vet tech programs.

I wanted to graduate high school years ago, but unfortunately, I got suspended. Since I have attended The Literacy Alliance, I have been really focused on obtaining all the knowledge I can. My worst subject is Math, but I scored the highest in that subject on the entrance test. I can’t wait to wear my cap and gown and have my family attend when I graduate and obtain my diploma. I will be very enthused, excited, and happy to see the look on my family’s faces.

Alex achieved his first goal and obtained his HSE diploma in April 2022. We can’t wait to see what he will accomplish next!
