The Literacy Alliance provides a fundamental leg up for men and women of all ages and all background
Hello, my name is Caleb. I’m 18 years old and live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I’m employed at a fast-food restaurant in Fort Wayne and have worked there for about four months. I am enrolled at The Literacy Alliance and have been here for two weeks. It’s a fun time here at The Literacy Alliance; the teachers are amazing. I really feel as though adult education will help me reach the next level because I plan on going to college to help kids who have a similar background as me and who are currently in a group home.
First, adult education is the way to go if you struggled in school or never graduated. I’ve been to a couple of adult education schools, and all the teachers have been amazing and helpful. The teachers at The Literacy Alliance, though, have shown that they actually care. Although it might seem impossible, you must keep pushing, or you’ll never really accomplish anything. I know many people hate high school, and I was one of those people because I was bullied, and teachers never really believed in me. So now that I’m 18, I am here to get my high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. I never cared and messed around in high school, and that was an eye-opener for me, so please get your education when it’s right in front of you. Even if it means giving up some hours at work or time on your video games, please do it.
Next, adult education can get you scholarships to Ivy Tech or any community college. It doesn’t really matter what school you go to. It only matters that you have a degree in the field you want to pursue as your career.
Furthermore, adult education is helpful to the people who need it the most. If you’re struggling and need a good job, I recommend attending an adult education program first. It might be something you don’t see helping you, or maybe you’re just not motivated. It really will help you; I promise you will not regret a moment after you pass all the subjects and get your diploma. I know it seems like I’m only trying to motivate you, but I really understand what it’s like to struggle in school and throw it away by not graduating. This is why you should take a second chance and enroll in an adult education program. If you don’t think you can do it, well, I bet the teachers at the school will help push you to do it.
In conclusion, adult education will help me reach the next level in many ways. College and furthering my education to have a stable lifestyle and home for kids and family would be the first way. Another way would be a general confidence booster! No longer will I have to walk into a job and say I don’t have an education. This diploma will make employers think differently about me and maybe think I’m really trying to change my life.
Adult education would also help me inspire family and friends to chase their dreams no matter what is in their way. I really hope this can help you because I don’t want just to inspire my family and friends; I want to encourage everyone! If I do that, I can say that I’ve accomplished one of my goals in life.
Caleb achieved his first goal by getting his high school equivalency (HSE) diploma in January 2023. We can’t wait to see what he will accomplish next!

One day I woke up, and as I was getting ready to go to work, I realized I was so tired and weary. I told my husband I needed to quit my job.
