My name is Tim; I am 23 years old and from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have 3 sisters, no children, and am single. My job right now is getting my HSE.
I came to The Literacy Alliance because I recently have been getting my life back in order after years of ruining it or staying stagnant. My past school experience was at South Side High School, and it was a rocky experience, to say the least. Home life was rough, and by junior year, I hardly had any credits, let alone enough to graduate. This did not reflect me. I was always told that I was smart, even by teachers. I just had a rough home life. The goal I have accomplished by attending The Literacy Alliance has been a major goal: going back to school and getting my HSE.
My experience at The Literacy Alliance has been great. I really can’t believe it. I thought it would be hard to return to school, yet they made it so easy. I have one of the best teachers I think I have ever had. She really knows how to put everything into perspective. The Literacy Alliance has an easy-to-attend schedule with small class sizes and great people with motivations like yours.
My plans and goals after my HSE are maybe taking college classes now that I can, but in the meantime, I plan to obtain a job programming computers that require a high school diploma or equivalent.
I’m so grateful for The Literacy Alliance. If you’re trying to get your HSE and I were to give you any advice, I would say, “Go for it!” I wish I wouldn’t have waited as long as I did.
Tim achieved his first goal and completed his HSE testing to achieve his diploma; we can’t wait to see what he will accomplish next!
