Hello, my name is Courtney, and I’m forty years old. I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have three brothers and two sisters...
My name is Barbara, I am 59, and I live in Fort Wayne. I have one son, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters, and I currently work at a local hospital in the EVS Department. I came to The Literacy Alliance to get my HSE.
In my tenth year of high school, I was expelled for smoking. I was told by the guidance counselor just to quit. My goal was to return to school, but I started working in a factory and never returned.
My experience at The Literacy Alliance has been wonderful. The staff has become part of my extended family. The teachers’ love and patience are so overwhelming; words are just not enough. I have learned so much. This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. So far, I have taken the pre-test and passed everything except math!
“The staff has become part of my extended family. The teachers’ love and patience is so overwhelming; words are just not enough. ”
Once I pass the HSE exam, I want to apply for a job that I have been wanting.
I am so thankful for my teachers at The Literacy Alliance for giving me a new outlook on life and the future. They have helped me not to give up and believe that I can do this. So never give up. The teachers can work miracles. That’s because they love what they do, care, and want you to succeed. They really do.
