Melanee Neilson
Melanee Neilson is a career life coach and site coordinator at The Literacy Alliance, where she helps adult students rebuild their path to a brighter future. She graduated from Bethel University and worked for nine years in education. She joined The Literacy Alliance in 2017 and has continued career counseling for seven years as a certified career advisor in Indiana Career Explorer. Last year she received her certification as a Certified Career Life Coach.
Melanee uses her training to bridge TLA students from their high school equivalency diplomas into college and on to their careers. Working directly with students, she offers resume preparation, teaches employability and interview skills, and provides college tours and career/college advising appointments. By passionately focusing on the student’s perspectives and present circumstances, she encourages students with new thoughts for change and success. Melanee truly believes a student’s future is created by what they do today.
Her weekends are filled with working with her church, community, and renovating her home. She loves spending time with her family, including her nine grandchildren, and traveling the country to visit family and friends.
